How long can I be in a Hot Tub?

Is there a time limit for being in a Hot TUB. Will my skin dry out if I'm in the Hot Tub for over a hour or so? Should I be checking the water chemistry often?

I had a hot tub for years and was always told 20 minutes max. Hot tubs can effect your bood pressure.
  • Men should use caution when in a hot tub too since it can affect their "manhood". and yes, the 20 minute rule as Lyette stated is the limit otherwise you can dehydrate and dry your skin out too. Also hot tubs can harbor bacteria/germs if not properly (chemically) treated

About 20-30 minutes, Yes you should check the PH balance. Bacteria grows in hot water and you can get some terrible diseases. Don't come out like a prune.

If one has a heart problem, check with your doctor before going in a hot tub, some people pass out from the heart.
  • If you go to any hotels that still have tubs in their pool area you will find that there is a remote switch that must be pushed to allow the tub to bubble for a set period of time. Reason being its there to wake you up and make you get out to reset it. The biggest issue with tubs is people fall asleep in them and drown. Thus the reason for the remote button.

Best to not use it if you have diabetes. But always check with your doctor.

All the above plus watch your chemicals as you do not want to get an itchy rash. Guess how I know this?
