actually you can replace any door...matter of adjusting the size of the framing...but to your question---buy a door skin and cut to size with a box cutter--then wood glue and clamp until dry...paint to taste...now you have a solid surface door...you can get more creative and cut holes at random with hole saw on a drill bit to utilize the existing glass for windows...but you must caulk the area between the the skin and the window...absolutely no water should be allowed to enter between the two

I live in a custom built home and why they put a jealousy door from my kitchen to the garage is beyond me. I'm not sure what a door skin is. Could you elaborate?

Have you considered installing a clear vinyl seal along the edge of each pane of glass in your jalousie windows? It is designed to provide an air tight seal where one pane of glass closes against another. The seal is available on several websites & seem easy to install.

They make curtain rods with magnetic brackets that you can hang on metal doors. You could put one at the top, and one tat the bottom to secure a curtain so it doesn't flop when you open and close the door.

Are you sure the door cannot be replaced? We replaced the door in a mobile home right from the hardware store's catalog under mobile home doors.

I'd remove the window from the door. Place a piece of art on both sides of the door that complements the decor on both sides. Go thrifting if the area to cover is large and look for old frames that can be painted and frame something as simple as wrapping paper or wall paper, or get canvases and paint them yourself. Order posters online to frame. Mount frames or canvases securely so they don't move around when the door is used. Put curtains on both sides. Frame out the opening in the door and install stained glass or patterned glass. Cover the hole with decorative board (plywood wrapped in cloth, papered, painted, etc) and hang wreaths. Hope some of these ideas click for you.

Carol - My suggestion is if you want to keep the window for light is to make a small frame around the window. (Wooden or Metal door) Buy Plexi glass to fit the frame and seal with clear Window caulk and adhesive. Trim the frame. Sun light not needed you can cover the widow with metal siding to match the existing on your mobile home. You may also incorporate all the above ideas into one that best suit your needs as a D.I.Y.-er.

If the screw handle still opens and closes the windows, clean the door up and use Rustoleum paint for the whole door or just for the window frame. When the paint is dry, use WD40 to oil the handle and each window’s hinges. I, too, suggest that you cover the glass, one pane at a time, with Contact paper. There are so many choices, you could mix or match, or put one pattern inside the mh, and a different one seen by the public. Even if you wanted to mount plywood on the inside of the door, the outside could look normal. If you don’t have one, you should put a dead bolt lock on the door. Enjoy your lanai! ☺️

Hi Carol, hope this helps you out. You can easily add a roller type blind to this, add in a blind with a pop of color or something plain
