Use small boxes, such as the file boxes you can purchase at Staples or OfficeMax. They are easier to move and have cut-outs so they are picked up easily. Any additional boxes you have cut a little rectangle on each side. I do this with all my boxes when moving. I used to use large boxes and they were so heavy you couldn't lift them. For items like lamps and decor. I wrap in shrink wrap and put them in tall empty waste baskets.

Pack boxes by rooms and label them accordingly. Perhaps use a different marker color for each room. Look on craigslist for people getting rid of packing boxes. My husband and I scored on some wardrobe boxes. We rented some pods from u-haul. You brin

Donate your books, heavy cookware, and shoes you think you can live without. If you are moving yourself, like with a U-Haul, plan what will go in the truck first, which is what you need last. Label every box on at least the top and one side. Make sure the beds go in last so they come off the truck first. Have a box with bedding, towels and toiletries in the truck or your car so you can make the beds and take care of your needs before you go to bed. Oh, and a roll of toilet paper, too, just in case! Now, read everybody's hints and decide what will help you. Best wishes 😇

Everyone calls me the moving Queen because I have moved so many times, including twice across country. First, do a room at a time and get rid of anything you haven't used or worn in a year.

When packing up kitchen, just leave enough pans, dishes and silverware out to sustain you until moved, or pack all dishes and use paper plates.

Use your linens to wrap breakables. This eliminates buying packaging and washing dishes etc, when in your new home. If packing is still needed go to your Walmart or discount store on the day they unpack shipments. They throw out the packing material, so if you ask, they will give to you.

Use tubs, instead of boxes, if possible. Make sure each tub/box is clearly marked as to contents and which room they go in.

Have coolers and ice packs for your refrigerated products.

When you move in, you will be able to get to your immediate needs, and unpack the rest at your convenience.

    Enjoy your new home.
