I refaced my cabinets with wainscoting and picture frame molding. They were dark and dingy so I did this and painted them a creamy white.
I believe it is where they replace the doors and hardware on you existing cabinets, and paint the cabinet part to match the new doors. Cheaper then replacing the whole cabinet!
We recently had our cabinets professionally painted but had also looked into refacing. It is the total replacemeant of all doors and drawers while the boxes that remain attached to the wall get covered in a veneer to match the doors and drawers.
The doors and face/front of cabinet are redone
