You just clean your surface and paint. No sanding or primer needed!
Easy peasy. Make sure you have a good brush and don't overload it. Better to do a couple of coats than a thick one.

Remember to use wax when you are finished, just a thin coat of wax will give your chalk paint dimension and help protect the finished product.
