Why You Need To Buy Thrift Store Frames!

I am always on the hunt for beautiful frames at the thrift store. When I find one that has great detail, I pick it up. I have turned these frames into so many different things, but today, I am going to show you how easy it is to make a custom chalkboard for your home.
Any frame of any size will work for this project. I found this gold frame and thought it would be gorgeous as a chalkboard.
The first step is to cut a piece of thin plywood to fit the back of your frame.
Depending on what your frame is like on the back, will determine how you attach the piece of wood. We used something we had on hand for this project. You can see more about that in my blog post. http://mycreativedays.porch.com/diy-chalkboard/
After you get the wood attached (or before if you want), paint the wood with a few coats of {aff} Chalkboard Paint. I painted the frame as well. I used one of my favorite paint brushes for this kind of project and the color {aff} "Bedford" from Fusion Mineral Paint on the frame.
After the chalkboard paint dries, "season" the chalkboard. If you don't do this step, the first thing you write on the chalkboard will be there forever. See how easy it is to do this step on my blog.
Look at the thrift store frame now!!! It is beautiful!
