Do we have to wait to paint new wood for outdoor tree House?

We're building an 8'×8' tree House with an octagon shaped "outlook deck" on a nearby tree. How long do we need to wait for the wood to 'cure' or can we paint & varnish now?

I don't see why you would need to wait BEFORE painting it. I'm assuming the wood wasn't freshly cut, therefore it's probably already had time to cure. You definitely should wait AFTER painting though. It's a good idea to wait at least 24 hours (better to wait 48) before you put anything in it. Otherwise when you go to move the item it will pull the paint up. I hope that makes sense!

If it is not outdoor treated wood you can paint right now. Wait for about 2 months of warm weather to paint new outdoor treated wood

if you bought the wood from a lumber co. it should be cured. prime and paint with out door type products- when you get a low humidity day.

Treated wood need to dry out for at least 6 months. Non treated can be painted immediately. Use a good outdoor paint or deck stain. No need to varnish or seal unless you leave it raw.

I agree...Untreated wood should be painted right away to seal it and protect it form the elements. Treated wood needs to be completely dry before painting it.
