Desolve snow and ice?

What product is best to devolve snow and ice from blacktop and concrete?

If you want to dissolve, then look for a product that is pet/ environmentally safe and that will not eat away at your concrete or blacktop. Otherwise use sand which will not hurt plants or people (sand helps give traction not melt). You could use your flat edged shovel to scrape the ice off and your garden hoe to whack at it and break it up. good luck
