How do you remve aluminum storms and screens on windows from 1952?

I have the same problem, am anxious to get some coments.
do they have paint on them and virtually sealing then to the window frame. If that's the case you'll need to work around the entire perimeter of the aluminum window section with a sturdy putty knife to break the seal to remove them
I doubt that a home from 1952 has aluminum windows, most likely you have wood window frames. I do think that what Just Retired told you to do is probably the best thing to do. My home was built in 1954 and there are storm windows in the rafters of the garage that are wood.
Sometimes aluminum thats old and exposed gets kind of corroded, try using a wire brush on the frames to loosen any corrosion, you could also apply WD40 to aid in the cleanup. Some of those windows also have little bow pieces you need to press to release, others have a clip near the corners you need to pull on to release the screen/window - you do this from inside. Hope that helps.
If you use a wire brush, you may want to use a brand new one for optimal results. Good luck!
