If you are looking a cute decor for your wall this summer, look no further! All you need is a surface to paint on... and to grab your flip flops! Let's go!
I started with a piece of basic wood. I like to find the most dented, scratched, dinged up pieces because for this piece I'm going for the beachy worn look! Check the basement, garage and even your neighbors trash pile! You can find old wood everywhere! In this case, I'm repurposing old wood shelf pieces!
Next up grab a shabby chip brush! These are awesome for the look I'm going for!
I love this paint color called Bahama Jade! It's a green teal paint! No priming, no sanding, no stripping and sticks to everything! This color makes me happy!
Then with your brush, paint it all over! I wasn't trying to cover every inch. Just drag my brush over the wood to get this look!
Ok now you are going to want to get your chalk sticks out!
Trace out your flip flops where you want them to be on your project! Here's
what you are going for!
I also used Junk Monkey "Sunshine Yellow" to fill in the shapes of the shoes. And black for the edging.
I keep these small brushes on hand. They are great for tracing and giving your paint projects some highlights and edging!
I drilled out three holes in each painted flip flop and purchased some rope to thread through the holes.
Here's what the back of the project looks like. Use your glue gun to secure those pieces so they don't fall out. Tie your rope so it looks like flip flop straps!
And then I put a cute saying on the board using my vinyl cutter!
Love how it all came together! Who's going to make one???? :)
