There are many variables that need to be answered. What types of plants are they? .What type of soil did you use? Did the plants get enough sunlight or too much sunlight? Did you feed the plants on a regular basis?
does your potting mix have fertilizer in it? are you watering properly? are they getting enough light? all of these factors can influence growth. some plants need special fertilizer developed for that type of plant ie cactus. research you plants and see what the optimal growing conditions are.

I have found that many times, people who have potted plants, do not water enough. A splash every day does not get to the roots. A good soaking in a pan half full of water will allow the soil to absorb water form the bottom drain holes. Some plants need to dry out before re-watering.
use plants what like the same watering conditions--don't put laverdar (dry) with hosta (very moist). Water every day - or at least every other day if you have large containers. In the spring I use 1/4 strength fertilizer every time I water even in my self watering containers. and I use just water in the summer. Don't buy tiny plants in the spring, get medium sized ones and pack them in so it is instantly full.
Are you reusing the pots to plant others after plants have died in them? You have to clean pots before you replant in them,especially if plants have died in them.Wash them in and out with Dawn and warm water.Then allow them to thoroughly dry in the sun before reusing them.

Don't over water plants and drown roots. Roots also need oxygen, just use a straw and make some openings in soil. Is the pot large enough? Sometimes the one you get in store is good for one season but if this plant is perinnal then upgrade pot to proper size for years to come. Proper drainage is super important as is sunlight or shade,and how much of each. Some plants need partial and it will tell you how much on tag. If it's a hanging plant rotate it and bring it down to make sure it needs water,don't just assume. Sometimes plants look like they are dying but it could be the shock of moving from little container straight into ground, don't give up on it. It will come back if perinnal just don't over feed or water. If it's an annual same thing don't over feed or water and if in basket move it to different location. I feel that it is better to support local nurseries that grow on plants that can help you with any question plus they grow what survives in the climate you live in.

When I do potted plants, especially indoors, I make sure to use the lightest weight potting soil I can find (often Miracle Grow) and add a lot of pearlite to improve drainage. Too much water often results in yellow on the leaves. Brown usually means not enough water. Don't re-water unless the first inch is dry or leaves start to wilt (look up the plant's requirements). The less sunlight a plant has, the less water it uses. Full sun requires a lot of water and I'd probably add vermiculite instead of pearlite (it holds some water, perlite does not).

ALL OF THEM ARE SUCCULENTS, I MIX TO TYPES OF SOIL MY HOUSE SOIL AND BAG SOIL FROM HOME DEPOT, THEY ALL HAVE A SUNNY SPOT. THANK YOU!!!!!
