A fescue grass yard, how do you get rid of all other grasses/weeds?

I had my yard sodded with fescue. I have attempted to eliminate the wild violets, clover, nut grass, dandelions and all other grasses/weeds in the yard. I am a little apprehensive about spraying anything on the yard since I'm afraid of killing everything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

People swear by using boiling water to kill them. Here’s a link that gives you more options, too. All cheap and pretty much home made.

Fescue is a pasture seed, like rye. They are both quick to take root, reasonably hardy, although they respond to high heat, drought, and other shocks to their surroundings by turning color and appearing dead, when they are just wet or dry. It sounds as if you got the whole pasture! As far as I know, obsessive diligence to dig out the plants on your part is the only answer, and keeping the lawn mowed consistently. Best wishes 😇

We had the same problem. Nothing works. Wind blows seeds. Gardeners carry seed from one yard to another with their mowers and blowers.

Mark they are very invasive. Will complete take over a yard. Have no clue how they could be shipped.

We had a beautiful fescue yard. My husband used preemerchant (sp) in January or February every year. And over seeded the yard a couple of months later. Watered well and mowed twice a week. A pretty yard is hard work but so worth it. Good luck!

I sure know how you feel! Lots of people do not want to use pesticides as it kills our bees and butterflies and gets in our water supply and it goes full circle and gets in your body too. Nasty stuff. What do I do? Spread a blanket and watch the ants! LOL! LOL!

I'm at the point in my life that if it's green, mow it, if it has little flowers on a green stem, mow it (it shouldn't be there, anyway)! Occasionally use Scott's turf builder +2. What that doesn't take away, mow it! Done! (Sorry, just have better DIY fun things to do than thrash myself over not displaying the "perfect" lawn. Now, that's just ME and how I feel, not meaning to stir the pot, just another viewpoint, so please, no one take offense!)
