Did you try WD40? As crazy as it sounds, many times this works like a charm. It depends on the surface but I’d try it on a small area first. If that doesn’t work then I’d try CLR cleaner.

Call the installer. They should not be leaving fingerprints on an installation. Tell them you want someone to come fix it. :) Say it with your voice dripping with honey. LOL

they apologized for the prints, but said the door was setting and they could not apply any pressure to it.

Give WD-40 a try. I had a bunch of marks on my brand new vehicle, and WD-40 took them off without damage to the finish. (Thanks to my grandson who details cars.)

Goo Gone, WD40, or nail polish remover.

First I would call the installer. And I would try Goo Gone. I love that stuff. It works great to take off labels off of jars and things like that.

If silicone, the razor should have worked, so I don't know. In your shoes, I might call the installer and ask what it could be - and what the solvent is for the substance. Very thin silicone leftovers can possibly be cleaned with alcohol - which is what we use before re-caulking a bathtub.... But I think the razor should have worked.

If they can't put any pressure, you can't either. Call them back and ask how long it will take to settle because since they can't clean it, you can't either. Tell them that you want it reinstalled and if they say no, you have a couple of options. If you know someone who is a lawyer have them write a letter. If not, write to your CA State Attorney General and explain the problem and the lack of response by this company. I've done that several times over the years and I ALWAYS get action. I the 70's we did a full remodel on our kitchen and we purchased a Thermador built in oven and microwave. We had nothing but problems. Had the repair man out several times. Finally I wrote to the NY State Attorney General's office. Apparently I had a 'lemon' and it was replaced immediately. I've also had the Attorney General's office settle to my satisfaction problems with Sears and Verizon. Even telling the manager that you'll be writing to the Attorney General may get action. Put the whole story (including who you talked to, if you can) on paper and mail it to the Attorney General's Office plus keep a copy for yourself. These days most people use email. Be different, set yourself apart and do it by registered letter. BTW, their mailing address should be online under CA state government. Good luck!

Call them back. If it needs to settle before they can clean them, you can't clean them either, therefor, you want a new installation because the one they did was not professional. Talk to the manager. Make sure your voice drips like honey. Sweet always wins. If he really refuses to help, have a lawyer write a letter if you know one. Also if you put it on a credit card, start a dispute and the credit card company, they won't pay them. If they've already been paid by the credit card company, the company will reverse the payment. Another option is to write to the Attorney General's Office in CA. I have been very successful over the years at get results doing that. I've had problems with Thermador (got a new unit), Sears (got money back) Verzion (Finally got an explanation of why we owed them money) I've gotten cooperation from just from telling the store Manager that I will be writing to the New York State Attorney General. Then if they don't cooperate DO IT! Always write on paper and type a professional letter. Explain everything and be sure to spell check. That gives you an edge. Send it registered with a signature required. You'll get some kind of action, most likely in your favor. Why should you struggle over their error? You paid them your hard earned money to do a job and they didn't do it right. They have 3 choices. Refund your money. Come fix it. Reinstall another one. It's one of those or the Attorney General will get involved. :) Always with a sweet voice.
