We had ripped out our carpet and installed Luxury Vinyl and we love it. This was done 5 years ago and it still looks awesome. We have a 70 lb black Lab and there are no scratches at all in addition to no refinishing that can sometimes be required with hardwood floors. I recommend this flooring to everyone. Just another option vs hardwood.
Engineered hardwood is generally used in places where solid hardwoods won't work...such as basements, or areas where the subfloors will not work with solid wood. They are both durable and long-lasting, and have very similar care requirements. Both can be refinished, although typically hardwood can be refinished extra times because engineered wood is actually just a thin layer of real wood over another substance.
To be honest if you have dogs you are going to be very unhappy even with a hard wood like oak. Their claws nick the wood and don't believe any sales man that says differently. If you have a dog especially a large one go with laminate wood floor
My vote is for real hardwood. I have laminate and can't stand it. The newer generations are supposedly better, but I would save my big pennies for the real thing.
thank you Naomi's. I appreciate your help.
