vinegar is a really good way to get rid of odors and some stains. I don't know if it will get rid of those kinds of stains but it certainly is worth a shot.

Place coffee grounds, open boxes of baking soda,or de-activated charchol to absorb the odor.

Clean it with vinegar as suggested, then leave it outside for the day with the doors/drawers open to let it air out. If it still smells, then do the charcoal/baking soda/coffee grounds. You can also try washing it in sections with a 50/50 vinegar/water solution, and then drying it with a blow drier. I don't know exactly how it works, but when I've used a blow drier, it seems to drive the vinegar into the wood itself, which is what you want if the rotten veggie odor has had a chance to really sink into the wood.

Thank you. I'll try both. Can't hurt.

  • Tip, you should not store onions and potatoes together. The "gasses" the onions give off make your potatoes spoil faster.
