Yes, you can buy new plastic straps or use cloth ones, here is a link for this:

Or you can get creative. I replaced mine with old leather belts from the thrift store. I did two chairs weaving belts, and two chairs using shower curtains from the thrift store, torn into strips and then woven, here are some pics of my chairs:

If I'm thinking of the same thing, yes! You have the aluminum frame chairs with the woven straps that weave across the frame, right? If you turn it over you'll see screws where the straps hold onto the frame. Unscrew the old straps- KEEP the screws! They sell replacement kits with the the strapping meant just for the size of your chair, pick a color or pattern. Follow the instructions that come with it-and definitely do the triangle fold when it's time to replace the screw thru the strap material to the frame. Good Luck! 😃

I have a metal like wrought iron chair (set of 4 chairs) with pedestal like round base .. They are nice. The straps are plastic that go across and wrap around the frame. thank you for your response because I took a closer look and they are secured with screws. My husband set it out for the trash yesterday and I brought it back into our shed. He was so angry. Those chairs were expensive ... I will not throw away if I can fix it. We are not handy but this will be my first project. Thank you !!!
