Need to remove tree remnants

Our Bradford Pear tree died in a sever storm 2 years ago and we had it removed. Recently, so sprout ups from a root have begun invading another area of the yard. How do I kill off/permanently remove/prevent further invader(s)?

You can dig up all the roots or you can expose a section of each root and put root killer on it. Or as you see sprouts come up, expose that root and put root killer on it. That is how I took care of our Chinese Elm roots. It's slow but also only takes short bursts of time and effort.

    Hope that helps.

When you cut down a tree, drill holes in the remainder of the stump. Put a liquid in the holes, roundup works best. But, if you don't want to use such a strong poison Clorox, vinegar, or borax would work too. With the less harsh things you'd need to apply it several times over a few weeks. With roundup you'd only need to do it once. The stump is still supplying the roots, it will take the liquid in and distribute it to the roots without harming the surrounding plants.

I hired a service to remove some remnants and was pleasantly surprised at how modest it was. I know this is a DIY website, but hiring somebody to do this arduous task was actually not much more than purchasing items to do it myself.
