once your seeds are completely dry, wash a container so it will be clean. Be sure all cleaning residue is rinse out of jar (I would just use hot water), then dry jar. Add 1 teaspoon of powdered milk to jar as this absorbs any moisture build-up while your seeds are stored in jar. Be sure you note the date you initially saved the seeds. Keep the jar with seeds inside your refrigerator. When spring comes you can replant your pepper seeds.

I would put them between layers of paper towels and keep it pretty damp until they sprout and then transfer them to small pots of soil.

  • I soak overnight and place in a pot with nice fresh soil and keep moist and give them sun. When they are big enough to transplant carefully separate them along with their roots. Being in So CA I can grow almost year round.

Hello Nina; I save my eggshells, and I plant seeds in them. Once they are large enough, I either transfer them to a pot, or else into the ground.

    Easy-peasy!!! Good Luck!!

If these are seeds from a store bought pepper, you may be setting yourself up for disappointment. Most will not germinate and they will not breed true or won't produce any fruit at all. If these are seeds from your own planting, allowing the pepper to shrivel on the plant is the best way to ensure you get ripe seeds. You then dry them and store in a cool place until next season.
