Why are my strawberries so sour?

They are second year product and are very small also. I pick them red and they appear to be ripe. They are growing in a raised bed with just one artichoke plant in the corner.

WOW! Your question is SO timely! I am planning on starting a garden next summer and growing strawberries (and rhubarb) for my family and my sisters and their families. Now I can be fairly sure the berries will be sweet instead of sour (I just paid $5 for a quart of them at the store last week and they were as sour as rhubarb in spite of looking red and luscious!). Here is a link that, I pray, will help you and me both!

Hello Caroline; I grew Strawberries, and some were sour, others were sweet. I used Peters plant food on them, the next year and the vast majority of them were noticeably sweeter.

I hope that this will help you!! Good Luck!!
