How do you "weather" shiny brass?

we bought an outdoor light fixture that when cleaned up, has a brass top. We would like to give it a blue/green weathered effect quickly.

Brush vinegar or salt water over the entire surface of the object using the paintbrush. Both liquids oxidize the brass. Apply heat or a flame to the object, which causes thebrass object to take on an aged appearance relatively quickly. Brass is often coated with lacquer.

You may be thinking of copper. It turns blue/green when oxidized. Not sure that brass will. The brass I have just gets dull when it needs polished. Not positive though, just my experience.

Hello Tina; I have seen a product that will easily achieve this at my local Ace Hardware store.

Please look into this, as that is what I would do, if I were looking to achieve such a look with a light fixture. Good Luck!!
