  • This is the front...after planting the side gardens... 1
  • Side of house as a big plain white house....
  • Side of house with some T.L.C...in progress!! The property looks at a marina and overlooks an inlet to the ocean....has potential!! 1

Duplex with unique front..needs curb appeal!!

As you can see, I am improving the house with gardens...however, the front under deck, which is the walk out basement needs something done to it!! I dont like lattice work, that is not an ...»
option. I though of some kind of "barn doors" that slide on a metal track to hide under deck, but still be functional. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The cutout from the tire to give the planter its ending/petal shape. This cutout could be used as a wall decoration, or what have you. 5

New Craze: Old Planters, as Miriam I has posted earlier/before. (DECADES OLD INVENTION!!! Not a new idea)

Showing my FIRST MADE TIRE PLANTER to you all!!! What do you think about it???

INSTRUCTIONS: ...»

1 - Take a very worn out tire (best with no wires sticking out).

2 - Wash it with a degreaser, and a brush to get rid of possible oils on it.

3 - You are now ready to draw the shape of the top ending/petal you will want your tire planter to have, but before you do this, with your thumb (finger) press down to feel that where you will be drawing/cutting there is NO WIRES. If you are able to press down, that means NO WIRES there.

4 - Cut out the drawing you made with a very hard, and sharp knife. You will have another decoration piece after doing this. For example as in picture #4.

5 - Turn the tire inside out. This is somewhat difficult, but doable.

6 - Now that the tire is inside out, paint it. I used oil-based superior durability premium quality protective enamel paint (OIL PAINT). I know that what I used could be a little pricey, but you probably don't have to go to that extent.

7 - Let the tire dry well.

8 - After dried, if you want to make designs on it as I did on the RED PAINTED TIRE, you will need to used a paint that has a primer in it, or prime the spots where you will be doing the little decorations. For example, the green leaves that are painted on this RED TIRE PLANTER.

9 - You are now finished, and ENJOY!!!

Deck and Outdoor Living Tuna Can Lantern

Inexpensive and easy way to make DIY outdoor lighting by re-purposing a tuna can. A dowel, paint or old broom stick, wood screw, copper fitting, and a thrift store glass hurricane is all that is needed. Simply drill a hole in the can and dowel to attach the dowel/paintstick and spray paint it. Once the paint is dry add the glass hurricane. Cost- $5.00

Patio table "lazy susan'

I purchased a large plastic light cover from a garage sale and covered it with glass beads and grout. It had a center hole in the middle perfect for a patio umbrella for my table and I ...»
placed it on an old lazy susan roller. It works perfect for picnics or to have the glow of candles in the eve. She is over 5 years old now, could use a fresh coat of grout, but she still shines in this hot Florida weather.

Gardening: A question about a plant.

A lady approached me at Lowe's a few month ago as I was looking at some houseplants and asked me if I wanted some. She was remodeling a room and needed all the houseplants gone. I ...»
jumped at the offer. She gave me what looks like an Iris plant but now two of the leaves have grown babies at the tip almost like a spider plant. I put the babies in the soil and now they have rooted. Any one know what type of plant this could be?
