We made over our kitchen ourselves using easy, affordable, innovative ways. I painted the cabinets myself, and my husband stained the island. I sanded the hardware to bring out the copper and we spray painted the refrigerator...
We (painstakingly) removed allllll the popcorn ceilings in our whole house, and you wouldn't believe how much brighter and fresher it feels. (The biggest surprise to me was how easy it was!) We posted tips here: http://www.viewalongtheway.com/2011/04/how-t...

It is not easy when it has been painted with several coats of oil base enamel. We bought and
1960's ranch house and it took my husband I 2 weeks to remove all of the popcorn ceiling from the kitchen. Then had a guy come in and texture it.

When we bought our 1967 ranch in July of this year it was not livable. After leveling the
house, new roof, new carpet in the bedrooms, hardwood throughout the rest of the home, , tape & texture living room walls, kitchen walls and ceiling, new paint, custom cabinets, granite counter tops, and a new A/C Unit...we are nearly finished. Everything inside the house other then the tape & texturing we did ourselves, My New Years resolution is to finish the small projects.
