About Me:

I am retired from Hallmark Cards, Inc. after 19 years as an artist there. I now do pottery restoration, and wire wrapped jewelry. My husband and I live in NW Arkansas where we have a home on 3/4 acres. We have an RV that we live in most of the time since we spend our winters in Tucson, Arizona and our summers on a bluff overlooking Beaver Lake in NW Arkansas where my eldest son has a cabin on the lake. We enjoy water sports and gardening, but mostly just enjoying the gorgeous view from our perch 350 ft about the water where the buzzard fly past on a regular basis. We have toyed with calling our spot 'Buzzard's Roost'. but our soon doesn't like that! I think he likes it there himself and feels that if we name it, we'll never leave! He fails to realize that in this little part of heaven, we may live forever!! He has created a monster!! LOL! He might be right about that! It is an awesome spot!!

Favorite area of home improvement:

Both Ed and I love gardening so we have developed beds around the perimeter of our little house that contain roses, azaleas and lilies. We are trying to develop perenials in the bed so that we have less upkeep. As it is, during the hot weather we go to the house a couple of times a week to water, fertilize and weed along with my washing our clothes. It has been such a hot summer that most of the roses are small and the burmuda grass is gradually creeping under the mulch to make it's appearance in places we don't want to see it! After much trial and error, Ed has found a Hi-Yield product that does kill the grass without killing the plants. Our blueberries may never recover from last years attack on the grass!!!! This new stuff works on the strawberries as well. I can't remember the name, but if you ask in a post, I'll find out what it is and reply. We had to get it at a feed store as the local department stores like Home Depot, Lowes or Walmart don't carry it! It is expensive, but if it works, it is worth the cost!! I also enjoy home decorating although my interest has lagged since we bought our motorhome!

How to re-do a room on a budget of $4000

Our finished living room with price tags on everything. It took us 3 years to finish this because the room was used for storage for our kitchen cabinets/materials when we redid that space, and we both hold full time jobs and can only work on weekends. By bargain shopping and doing the work ourselves, we came in at $3990, and it's so nice to be able to open the front door without being embarrassed by a building supply warehouse in our front room! The complete remodel and additional pics are on a previous post.

Kitchen overhaul

Thought I'd share photos of our kitchen remodel. It was just completed yesterday.......a 1968 kitchen brought into the 21st century.
