  • This is a commission piece I did for a woman. This table was her grandmother's and the top was not in the best of shape. She wanted it painted white and told me to do any design I wanted out of pastel colors. When she came to look at it, she was overwhelmed because one of the dishes (unbeknownst to me) was some identical dishes that her grandmother had. 13
  • This is a curio cabinet that is heavy and sets on a table. It is made out of beautiful china, stained glass, and kiln-fired butterfly designs. 2
  • This is a long (48") bench that I painted and then created with china dishes, glass mosaic gems, and stained glass. I left much of the blue top exposed for interest. 5
  • This was originallly a silver hammered aluminum lazy susan which I painted and then designed with china dishes and stained glass. 2
  • This is wooden bed tray that a woman had me do for her. Her daughter is named Rose and she wanted a Rose theme with not too many roses. She also wanted it whimsical. 3

My mosaic pieces.

I create mosaics out of cast off furniture, some of which is cosmetically flawed. I use cut-up china dishes, stained glass and other objects. This art form is called Pique Assiette and ...»
I'm self-taught. I do commission work and sell my pieces in galleries. Here are some pieces.

  • Aqua, white, red, and yellow accents all come together to give this breakfast nook the perfect cottage feel.
  • I used a bench for seating against a window with a poor view. I added some dropcloth pillows for a fun touch. 1
  • For a centerpiece, I added a few items I had around my kitchen. The old Ball jar was a gift from my mother, and I scored the glass bottles and wire basket from Decor Steals!
  • My favorite detail in the room is this shutter. I found it at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for $2. I threw a quick coat of oops paint on it and propped it in the corner. 1

Vintage DIY Entry Bench

This is my favorite build project to date. I love that for $100 I was able to build a vintage looking church pew for my entry that also has storage! I was intimidated of the detail work required (being that I have not been building long) but, I was surprised at how simple it really was:) http://www.shanty-2-chic.com/2012/07/vintag...

side table update

I wanted the harlequin look on this piece, but didn't want to measure, tape, and paint the design, so I used scrapbook paper to achieve the look I wanted.

  • This almost shows the whole of both towers. 8
  • I disassembled all of my collected lamps and laid out the globes to see approximately how much rebar I needed for the tower. 2
  • I used 3/8 inch rebar threaded through all of the pieces. I didn't end up using this base though. The actual construction was quite a bit of trial and error in 100+ temperatures! ARGH!!
  • I used the biggest globe and lamp base for the bottom of the tower. 2
  • I primed and painted all of the lamp pieces I was going to use between the globes. 1
  • I alternated the globe pieces with a lamp parts. Initially I tried to use only the globes but didn't like
the way the glass rubbed and was afraid they would break. 2
  • After figuring out that the globes were too heavy for one tower, I made a second tower. 5
