Fall's own traditional decor

If you're looking for more ways to bring natural fall interest to your garden, look for roses that offer beautiful decorative hips.

Thanks Everyone .... Doug, thanks... I agree. Space becomes very valuable later on if you ...»
don't plan for it ahead of time. ;) These poor people were hit by a bad drought all summer long .... those Alberta spruces were dried out and ugly .... I spiral cut them for the time being, not sure if they will last and may need to be totally replaced come spring .... but for the time being, they look better than they did. We are going to keep moving ahead as their budget allows and eventually create island gardens in the yard, a back herb garden, and a water feature somewhere in the front.

  • Maple mixed with American cherry, hardwood flooring. 2

Mixing different wood species to create a unique hardwood floor can be quite beautiful.

We always put 3 coats of polyurethane to eliminate wood grain that may show through finish. We like to make our floors functional, as well as a work of art.

Removing all the bars and installing clear glass, really adds a nice touch for the kitchen.

A couple of no fail shade ground covers are pachysandra and Vinca. Pachy is nice because it ...»
spreads quickly and has glossy leaves and interesting shapes and textures as it fills in. Vinca is nice because it is low gowing, almost vin-ish along the ground and flowers. If your soil is a heavy clay, you may want to start amending it..... do you compost at all? You may want to consider starting, it will definitely help imrpove the soil.... and put a nice layer of top soil down to get the ground started.

Your house is so pretty, Marvin! You have a great start in the tiered beds too... Variegated hostas lining the front of the bed would be pretty, espcially with som impatiens tucked in between them and a bit of colorful columbine added into spaces. Also, don't forget the old fashioned bleeding hearts!

Gardening: Congrats to Walter Reeves, on 18yrs of doing the Lawn and Garden Show

Just read that Walter has been doing the Georgia Gardener Show for 18 yrs as of January 15. That's a long time and I'm sure he has helped hundreds if not thousands. I know I appreciate ...»
the information I've gotten from his website and even directly from right here on hometalk. I'm always fascinated and a little envious when I come across someone doing something that they love (and making a living at it) and it is clear that Walter loves what he does. It is a beautiful thing! Thanks Walter and congrats!
