you need the transformer and control panel. Go online and read up about installation. The wire has to be one continuous loop. If you cross it you cancel it out. So pay attention. It's REALLY simple to do. Get the same gauge wire. We installed ours using an edger lawn tool...he cut and I followed placing the wire beneath the sod and flipping it to cover. It took us 45 min to do a good half size acre. Think about whether there're gardens or other places here you don't want them to go and incorp into your plan. A caveat: TRAIN your dog for an hr every day for A Week Or two. On a leash. Use your words. No! Don't go there! Use the flags as a visual reminder for them. Don't be lazy. We trained with the signal up high so they heard the safety warning buzz before the zap. One zap and they were very careful. Depending on how many feet the transformer is set on will determine how much space your pet has warning before the zap. You can get the wire on line for $30. Good luck.

Well you will also need the control box that is hanging in their garage. You need to make a continuous loop with the new wire and hook it to the box you will hang in your garage. Other than that if your neighbors have the collars you'll just need new batteries for the collars. Now do your pets a favor and place flags around the yard so they can see them and get to know that's where they don't want to go. Here's is what I would do. Put the collar up by your ear and when you hear the first warning beep that's the place to put the flag. They get a warning beep about 10 inches before they get the shock. So walk them by the flags so they know how far over is safe to go. Leave those flags up for a good 3 weeks. If they go outside of the parameter go and get them take the collar off and walk them back into the yard and then put the collar back on them. If you walk your dogs and the wire runs across your driveway then for the first couple of weeks you need to put the dogs in the car back out and down the driveway and park down the street to start your walk. At end of walk they go back in the car and you drive home to the garage. You only need to do this a couple of weeks. That is the proper way to have an invisible fence and train your dog properly
