It depends on how much maintenance you want to put into the area over the years. Grass will require weekly mowing on a scary angle. Pachysandra , juniper, or hostas will take over the area and once established will require almost no maintenance over the years-- but there will be considerable work and/or expense at the beginning. A flowering perennial bed will give the most color and delight, but will require periodic weeding and splitting of plants. Any of these options can also incorporate stonework, stepping stones, statuary, and water elements. Have fun!
