My annuals are still in flats and are waterlogged from all this rain.

Will they rebound once I am able to get them in the ground? The petunias were particularly hard hit. The gerber daisies were planted yesterday. I have been ill and can only plant a few also a time. Today was my day to plant and we had storms again. Sigh icon

We've had the same rain issue here and, for similar reasons, it takes me a while to plant. I had two flats of petunias which got hit pretty hard by the rain. When a day came that I could finally plant a few of them had flowers but not many. Of course, I had to pinch back most of them anyway. My first batch went into pots and those are coming along nicely now. We're still having too much rain and not enough sun. I still had another flat to go. Those went into our patio area - some pots, some in ground. Those had a harder time with the rain. Not many are blooming yet, but I'm hopeful that when the sun comes out they will look better. I bought a third flat and when I brought them home they were blooming nicely. The next two days it poured so the blooms were gone, but there were some partially out that are coming along and should bloom shortly. I put the last of them in the ground today so we'll see what happens.

    Good luck!

I was able to plant some this evening. With all the rain the earwig population has exploded. They have feasted on my red Salvia.

My initial plan was to have red and white gardens to celebrate Canada's 150th Birthday. Unfortunately they will not be the showpiece for next weekend. They will by August though. It's the thought that counts.

All the best with yours also.

Same thing happened to my pansies. It rained for days after I planted them. Then we had temps in the 90s. My plants just kind of dried up. I left them go. Some came back but they just aren't what I expected. But I still have hopes. Don't give up.

Don't give up on them. try covering them with a tarp or pots when a lot of rain is expected, especially if they are already soaked. I did this to my veggies in the garden and some marigolds, and they all survived.

Definitely don't give up! Cover when there will be rain.

Sorry your plans didn't work out. Sometime the weather just doesn't cooperate the way we would like. I feel like my plants look like it's June 1st but it's almost July1st! I haven't planted salvia for years. I used to do red and white (blue if I could find something). The last few years, I switched to purples and pinks with a dash of red or white here & there. I love the deep purple and the deep pink. I add some lighter shades too. It's a treasure hunt every year to find the right color annuals. Hope yours works out - even if it is a bit late. Happy 150th Birthday to Canada!
