Hi Sherry. Shelving, some heavy-duty and some light-duty, come We use bins (purchased inexpensively from Menard's). We label the contents. The heavy bins need heavy-duty shelves. It works pretty well for storage. Also try using peg board and hooks to hang what you would use occasionally, like screw drivers, hammers, pliers, etc. We hang our broom and mop on nails near the door for easy access. Bikes can be hung from the ceiling when not in use. Hope this helps.

i love shelves made out of wood and having all of the miscellaneous items stored in plastic buckets. Have any tools hang in dedicated spots on the walls, if you can get used kitchen cupboards for one wall, a lot of tools and loose items can be neatly ticked away

When we were renting we bought storage racks, bins & hooks for the racks. Now that we own, we'll be building sturdy shelves for our bins. Label all of your bins so you know what's inside of all of them.
