How do I dig through a garden infested with large tree roots?

I'm actually removing the current boundary wall which is so cracked from tree roots, so that I can have a new one built. I've had the trees removed but obviously the roots still need to be done. What has grown under, and through the wall is scary and we are digging up my garden ourselves. What a job to get through these roots just to dig up the current foundation!

cut the tree roots with a Sawsall it will be so much easier to dig out the area. And by cutting the roots it won't hurt the tree at all. You can purchase a SWsall for $50 or so and save yourself a ton of work

I was just going to say Reciprocating Saw or Sawsall (same thing) too. I just used one to remove roots in our side garden. A new blade will cut through them quickly and easily. Don't forget your safety glasses. :)

We used a Chain Saw. Could Not believe how BIG & how Many there were under our foundation! To bad it didn't kill the trees.

Difficult, tedious work! Sawsall, or two if you can find a helper!
