if you dont need to cut down the light or need privacy ar night I would look for a delicate lace material (I.e. not too much design or very small design) and have floor to ceiling panels. You can hide any hardware with a valance or choose to hang them using the stretchy wire that won't show

Half window shutters with a nice valance over them. Lets the light in but also gives some privacy.
