Heat in microwave, or, if metal, put in hot water.

placing jars in pot of hot water on stovetop melts leftover wax & then you are able to easily wipe clean with paper towel. (But I would not use this pot for cooking). I remove wax on candlestick by placing in freezer for 10-15 min & then use a plastic scraper. It usually just pops right off.

I put mine in a pot of boiling water because doing it running water not only wastes water, it takes what seems like forever. Doing it on the stove takes some monitoring, but once the wax is melted, you can pour it into another container for recycling or into the trash can and quickly wipe out the jar or candle holder with a paper towel . Use a pot holder. It will be very hot!
