If that's a drop in sink, you can replace it for $40 (new), without having to hassle with the mess and prep of reglazing. The kit to do that is $26. I say it's not worth trying to fix. If you have a habitat for humanity resale store near you, there's a good chance you can find another sink for peanuts.

Replace the sink and the drain assembly. Both are in bad shape.

I am with Allison, it may be less hassle t o just get a new sink and then take a hammer to the old one (while it is wrapped in a paint cloth, and use the broken pieces to create a mosaic in something else! You can paint the pieces to give more colore or add it to other broken tile pieces. Happy creating!

Definitely change out that sink. It looks as if it is on its last leg, so it is time for a new one. It would cost more to refinish it than to just put another one in. Check local thrift shops, etc for a used sink and you should be able to find a bargain. Small sinks are not very expensive....used ones are usually less than $20.

Thanks, all for your comments. Unfortunately, it is not a drop-in sink but all molded in one piece around to over the toilet. I just thought there might be a quickie way to repair it without replacing it. This is also a rental so I don't really want to spend much on it!

Find a professional in your area that reglazes porcelain or fiberglass sinks, showers and bathtubs. We had our fiberglass shower reglazed/painted over 5 years ago and it still looks great! Kitchen sink sees a lot more action, best to get it done right.

I'd coat it with resin. Stone Coat countertops has videos online that you can watch first; and they sell the kit or you can buy it at Lowes. I watched them first and then restored every counter in the house as well as the moulded bathroom sink! It's a blast. Not sure if a powdercoat finish would be more appropriate, though... see my Hometalk video on the resin work if you go that route...

If you check my recent post, I had a similar sink and counter all in one unit. I painted the whole thing!!! It looks great! Plus it's cost effective too. You can spray paint fixtures too.

Lowes and Home Depot have a product for resurfacing bathtubs and sinks. Follow directions, which are clean and dry. Can be brush applied. It will look like new. I have done several of these projects.
