Upcycled Killie Pot Planter

I love a good upcycle. My best decorating ideas usually come from things others might discard. I also love a good flea market, where I usually find the best things to be upcycled. This little planter idea was one such find.
I'd like to say I thought of this idea, but I didn't. I found this planter at my favorite flea market last year. The baskets are actually fishing baskets. They're sometimes called killie pots, but they can also be referred to as minnow traps.
The bottoms of the baskets are introverted. These were lined with burlap to keep the potting soil in. They had come with plants in them, but the only one that survived the winter was a cactus so I decided to go with that theme this year.
I figured since a cactus is in the succulent family, I would add a variety of succulents to balance that out. I started with the small varieties that are easy to find but they were too small with the large cactus.
Instead I added a plant that I believe is called String of Pearls in with the cactus. In the other basket I added a giant succulent I found at a home improvement store. It was the first I've seen the larger variety available. This creative planter definitely adds some interest to my patio!
