The Trick to Making New Wood Look Old and Weathered

Thrifty and Chic
by Thrifty and Chic
When I was making my farmhouse table, I wanted to give it a really rustic feel, but I had no reclaimed wood lying around and wasn't really in the mood to go and search it out. I found other tutorials on how to stain would using vinegar and steel wool but didn't have the patience for that :) So, I decided to use what I had on hand, and turned a piece of plain pine from the lumber store into 'reclaimed' wood in minutes just using paint and stain! Full tutorial here:

Making new wood look old in minutes
All you need is a sander, paint and stain!
Here's the difference between the new pine and the 'old' pine
This weathered top completed the look of the table and was just the warn grey look I was going for!

I love your table and wow, what a lot of work you did...... I surely thought Minwax had a grey weathered look stain. I congratulate you on your final gorgeous result....... but I would not do it and not even pregnant..... God Bless you for all that work. And for those that have not done it...... vinegar and steel wool 'for me' turned my new Pine lumber very orange and I hated it.......ORANGE....... ugh. Might be just the Pine we get in our area, so who knows, but always test on a scrap at least a few hours before actually doing your project.
