Is it worth dismantling the housing to try to repair the connection - it's an old hood. I cannot do this myself (age 70+), so should i call a repairman or order a new hood and then call a repairman to install?

  • Buy a new one! If you can make the trip to your local home store and buy another one and then ask the salesperson if they know someone who could install it. they are easy to install and should not take more than an hour. I have installed a couple myself.

I vote for a new hood. Cheaper in the long run.

Are you sure it isn't just that the bulb has burned out? I've never seen a range hood not have bulbs which can be removed and replaced. I assume you've already tried that?

Thanks for the suggestions. I bought a new hood - it wasn't just the bulb.
