I'd probably try using wood filler to fill the cracks. Sand 'me down and paint the entire project. Thankfully, paint has evolved to cover most all surfaces now! 😊

With laminated mdf, if the cracks you mention are separation of the laminate from the mdf itself, use wood glue to bond it back together. All other cracks, chips, and scratches can be filled with wood putty.

To paint laminate surfaces, lightly sand them then prime with Zinsser BIN primer. After the primer is dry, you can use any kind of paint you desire. After your paint is dry, be sure to add a couple of coats of polycrylic, to seal everything and give added durability for a long lasting finish.
