Can you cover 1"x1" ceramic tile backsplash without removing it?

    Yes you can. Just make sure any loose tiles get glued down before you start. Also clean the tile extremely well so you new tile will adhere to the old.

    No. Tile needs a smooth stable surface to adhere properly. The weight of the new tile combined with the weight of the old would put a strain on the paper of the drywall causing it to separate and fail. Best to remove the old tile, patch any damage and put up the new tile.

    If your using wood? Like shiplap. Adhesive, Otherwise, the tiles may not set atop one another? Maybe mosiac them? Pull off like ten leave one, etc.. Have you seen the opalizing, techniques for boring backslashes? Dark and white, bronze, gold opal like paint for backsplash . Happy tiles to you

    One sution is to Prime the tiles and paint them. If you want something else instead of the tile. I would remove the tile and then Prime the wall after patching any damage. Yl otherwise, covering tile could bring on a mild issue especially in wet areas like bathrooms and backsplashes
