Hi Teajude, Yes, if the damage was just to the leaves and not the root, they should be fine. Here's a link that may help! http://blog.pennlive.com/gardening/2012/05/hostas_hit_by_hail.html
Good luck!
Hi T - I say yes too, I have a variety of hostas and elephant ear big shots in planters that are sometimes hurt & shredded by hail; I started improving their lovely appearance by not cutting off wrecked leaves but by tucking them inside the pot for a day or two till I have time to fix, so any neat leaves still stood up looking pretty, Then I cut off the bad torn leaves branches near the root, and tossed dead big sad leaves into compost. Finally the lost leaves are withered and gone to live again in compost and new leaves appear. Hail is unfun for sure and the biggest leaves take the biggest hit. Try an umbrella!! Seriously. But plants try HARD and they will come back! Maybe in Africa, real elephants trod on these plants that are native to them and then the plants regrow? I live in Zone 8 in Far West TX, USA and I listen and watch my plants a lot for when they need a sip or a gulp of hosewater. Or shade. My earth here is caliche (concrete- so I use big pots a lot!) Hail is a pain. It happens. Plants survive and we can enable. Help them and they will help you! Good luck and thanks for asking. GJ

They should...hostas are pretty hardy. They probably won't look as good as in previous years but i wouldn't be removing them
mine did.
They are pretty tough! Just give them some time to recover. Mine survived the 1000 year (yes, 1000) flood last June.
Hostas are pretty hardy, and close to impossible to kill. They should be fine!
Thanks
