Margot, I am not sure what needs to be fixed with your bath tub drain, but if it is getting rusty around the drain hole maybe you could TEMPORARILY putty it, BUT FIRST .... check out the links below to see if one of THOSE will help:

    https://www.homerepairtutor.com/bathtub-drain-repair/

    https://www.plumbingsupply.com/how-to-install-tub-drain-flange.html

I do hope one of these helps you out. Thanks for coming to Hometalk for some helpful ideas. :)

Is it not draining? Are your other drains moving slow or is it just the tub? If it is just the tub, there is a long slender plastic drain cleaner with pokey things on the side at your hardware store that helps pull the hair up out of the drain. If it is hair, there is a wonderful new little device called a Tub Shroom that I saw at this years Hardware Show. It allows your tub to drain and catches all the hair!

Amazon sells them and I assume they have made it into hardware stores.

    Hope that helps

Put banking soda in sink and vinegar, pour hot water. The banking soda will fizz, let for a 2 minute. Pour water down the drain. Work in bath sink and shower Depends how bad it. Pour the amount you think it need to unplug.
