Hello Robin, It all depends on what you are painting over. Is that brick on your back splash? It's hard to see in your picture. Try either giving us another picture or include this info in another question.

You didn't state what the backsplash is made of, and the pictures hard to see but is that mini tile sheets? If yes, you get tile paint, Rustoleum makes some. You can get kits at home stores from Rustoleum, Gianni, Transitions and Homex. If your wanting a color, these folks make colored epoxy and custom colors... http://www.klasskote.com/epoxy_bathtub_paint

Yes it is tile sheets. Im thinking white but maybe show some brown pieces here and there for a rustic look.

I would start with a primer called Stix. It is made to create a bond on just about any surface. Be sure to follow the directions carefully - especially the drying times.

Stix is a great suggestion; it's by Bejamin Moore. Afterwards, use their Advance paint. Once properly cured over a few weeks, you can even scrub it. Don't forget to first clean your backsplash thoroughly with a degreaser (TSP), otherwise even the best paint or primer will fail and scratch off. Good luck!

Rustoleum and Homex make a tub & tile paint in white. Buy at hardware store, homestore, or Amazon.
