DIY Mason Jar Craft Caddy

We found a metal candle holder at our local Goodwill store and used bright colors to give it new life and a new purpose!

This metal candle stand was in good shape and a perfect size to hold mason jars. We started by cleaning the candle holder and then gave it two coats of an apple green spray paint allowing it to fully dry between coats. To finish it off we also applied two coats of a spray lacquer.

The finished stand was ready to be filled with mason jars. But when we filled it, the glass mason jars got lost and we decided to use craft paint to coat the inside of our mason jars.

It is best to use paint that is on the runny side for this step. If the paint is two thick it will not coat the inside of the jar well, and if it is too thin, it won't coat the jar with enough color.

We filled the bottom of each jar with craft paint and then swirled it around in the jar to coat it. Excess paint was poured back into the paint container, although, there will still be run off, so place each jar facing down on a piece of cardboard. Move them every so often so they don't stick to the cardboard. When they are finished running and the jars are fully coated, turn them right side up to finish drying. I allowed the jars two days to fully dry before use.

We used mason jars around the outside, and a plain jar for the center - you can see it is taller than the rest, which is the look we were going for.

When everything is dry, fill the jars with your most used craft supplies. We love the vibrant colors and it's a great inexpensive addition to help keep our craft supplies close at hand and organized.

This is a fantastic idea! I have a bunch of decorated jars on my crafting desk with all my supplies but they take up a lot of space. This is perfect so I can get some much needed table space back. TFS! :)
