Tina, hoping if all else fails this might help -- or perhaps try this FIRST and then you won't have to worry about whether or not the other stuff works to keep ants out of your hummingbird feeder ;)

I had the same problem. I wrapped sticky tape (any kind will do) around the chain link that is holding the feeder. The ants will not walk over the sticky tape. You do have to change it once in a while. Make sure the sticky side is on the outside.

there is a new feeder that is 2 pieces, the top which feeds the hummers and the bottom tray that hangs from the feeder that u put water in. the ants may crawl up but the can only drop into the water cannot get the the food. Just unhook it every day or 2 frokmfeeder rinse refill wilt water and hang back up. Nothing is going to prevent ants from vlimbing up that pole. Keep in mind tho it only works on pole feeders not those that hang from trees. Good luck!

There are baffles that thwart ants attempts. They're available at ACE, for sure. I've even used the top from a can of hair spray, drilled a hole in the middle and turned it facing down. With all the challenges of going past the insides of the can, they give up. One other thing is to turn the cap up and fill the outside ring with water. Simplest of all is to go to any store that sells the feeders and they're sure to have items made specifically for this problem.

Rub your pole with vaseline from bottom to top.
