Eggs in bird nests on my front door wreaths!

I have had birds making nests on my front door wreaths. I never disturb the eggs but I have never seen them hatched either. They just seem to dry up or am I missing something?

If you want them to nest some where else try putting up a bird house near that area and remove the wreaths for a season. If they find something better they may move on. We had some birds nesting in the vents in my warehouse over a number of years. They were about 30-40 feet up so there was nothing I could do. We love them.... even with the mess. They taught their young to fly inside the building. We all looked forward to spring when the flying lesson began.

It sounds like they abandon the nests, maybe because of the activity at the front door.

Bird will attempt to nest in the strangest of places but if humans, animals, or something else startles them, they will abandon their nest. The eggs may not be fertile but my guess is the pair abandoned the nest for some reason so they won't hatch if the eggs are not kept at the right temperature.

Using that door is scaring the parents away. When there's a nest, use a different doorway OR....move the wreath lol!

OMG! That never entered my mind since they were not scared away while building the nest or laying the eggs. I guess things change once the eggs are laid. Just like having kids! lol. Thanks.

Hee hee Hee! Yup....kids change EVERYTHING lol. The parents can fly off while building but sitting on the eggs is a whole different situation. 😎
