Not a professional by any means, but construction necessitated moving 2 rosebushes in the heat of summer. Not ideal, I know. I had my grandson help me on one cloudy morning. We fully prepared the planting holes to be plenty big with compost and even pre watered the holes. Dug up the rosebushes including a generous root ball and planted them immediately in the new holes. Watered really well for several days and they thrived and bloomed well that summer and years since.
