My guess is the heat. Having the same issue. I think if I watered twice a day, it wouldn't be enough.

I live in the Phoenix area and can't keep them alive through the summer here. I think its just the heat, since I tried moving it to more shady area.

In Southern California I had great success with geraniums in hanging pots, on a mostly shaded part of the yard. I often forgot to water and they just kept growing. We had temps in the 100's also.

  • Are they in ground or in pots? I am also in 100 + heat and mine are in full sun all ay, but in ground.

Are you dead heading them? Follow the flower stem all the way down then snap them off there when the flower is dead. My temps in Eastern NC are about yours with additional 90% humidity and my geraniums are doing fine. I put them in shade during the heat of day. Plants in pots need to be watered every day. Early in a.m. or late evening. My geraniums get fertililed once a week also.

I am in hot old Texas and looked at mine this a.m. and realized that it is that time of year when I need to pull them back into more shade. Mine always give up the ghost about this time of the year in the hot direct sun. Until now they were a bright spot of color on the front walk, but now I will replace them with cora vincas that never seem to get too much sun or heat.

Hello Sally; I too have the problems which you do, as It is stinking hot where I am!!!

From what I have seen with my plants, It is a combination of heat, bugs, and not enough shade.

Mine are in full sun, and I water then daily. I also give them a light fertilizer every other week.

Also, please make sure that they have proper drainage, as they love water but do not like being "wet"

I hope that this helps you!!! Take Care!
