You can't really control the dripping but can redirect it with tubing. There should be a nipple on the rear bottom where the the water drips from. You'll need to measure this. Go to a home improvement store to purchase tubing, comes on rolls so know how much you need, attach it to the nipple and run the tube to where you want the water to go. You should not need a clamp, but can use one if you wish.
We had a similar set up with a window a/c in the wall of our enclosed garage. My husband set up a "rain barrel" to collect the water, and then used a hose to distribute the water into the gardens.
Thanks so much Allison. I'll check it out.
I know your a/c drips in a carport but I just wanted to mention that my neighbor's a/c drips directly into a bird bath! The dripping motion attracts birds like crazy and the bath is always filled with fresh water! Makes my heart so happy when I see this ingenuity! My 2 cents: whether you wisk the ater away in a tube or collect it in a rain barrel, I hope you find a good use for this precious resource!
Collecting the water will be distilled and usable in battery cells and your steam iron or any other place you needed distilled water!
