They sell a soft wax to be used with chalk paint. I personally like to use a dark stain on mine then varnish.

    What are using it on?

I want to use it in my kitchen. It is very, very small and I have the pizza/coffee theme going and would like it to continue to use it. The cabinets have several coats of different kinds of paint and I am unable to tell what each coat is. The paint is chipped in different places but I cannot seem to get enough chipped off of the cabinets to remove it. I am not able to do it myself and cannot afford to pay someone to do it. I was a fool for buying this house. Thanks

Charlotte - yes, either liquid wax or paste wax can be used. Don't apply too thick a coat; I learned from personal experience ... just a thin layer is best, let dry then buff with a clean old sock or a piece of t-shirt material. Once your piece has dried and has been buffed, IF you want a dark antiqued look to your item, dark wax may then be applied.

As stated above I do not want it too dark but neither too light as the pizzeria would be kinka smokey from fire. Thinks

Either one can be used but I prefer the paste wax-it gives me better control than the liquid

Thanks, I still do not know what to do, what would work the best. The house is not in good shape since it has not been taken care of. The owners moved and rented the house out twice and it looked horrorable inside. And I a fool I took it.

My advice is to pick one room at a time and just make the rest liveable for right now. I know ours overwhelmed me too, but I just found one room to give most of my attention to. The one bedroom had 5 layers of wallpaper and some mold I had to clean. Each day I picked so long and worked there. I am happy to say it was a 2 month project but it was the boost I needed. Keep it up it is worth it in the long way
