If you have a room with a beach theme, you could put them there. Some people even make lamps out of them and they are beautiful.

Depending on the size of each shell, they make a great soap dish gift...just glue some small round beads ( 1/4 inch or smaller) as a leveling leg system...usually three in a triangle set does the job. They also make great serving dishes for small treats using the same three-bead level system idea.

Stuff with a small stuffed "pillow" and use as a pin cushion! Or as a small holder for potpourri. Have fun!

Hello Ironhorse68450, My husband is from Massachusetts and they sell a treat called stuffed quahogs. It is a flavorful stuffing with clams in it. They are served on scallop shells. You could give them a try. Good luck.

Like most seafood is way better fresh. They actually sell whatever they catch in shacks down their piers. Some have hot plates and are cooking/frying whatever they caught just hours (or sometimes minutes) before. That's as fresh as you can get. I guess you won't find "fresh" in Neb. but maybe you could search for the recipe. We're in Illinois with the same problem. No fresh for us either. Oh well.

I'd use them in the corners of a large picture frame.

Melt the wax from a tea light candle into each shell and add a wick. Let them harden and use as a cute candle. Or, check my project page to see the fun seashell plant markers I made using a variety of seashells.

Spray paint them gold and silver, add a fake pearl from old broken jewelry and hot glue a ribbon on the back for a great seaside Christmas tree ornament. Or you can melt a tea light candle (remove from tin) and make a shell candle. Or you can follow this tutorial I found: http://yesmissy.com/diy-seashell-candles/

I made my girlfriend an oval mirror with shells all around it for above her fireplace mantel. I used a hot glue gun. You could use your scallops on the top, bottom and sides as the focus. Then get some baskets of shells at the Dollar Tree, I think I used 4 baskets worth to do her mirror. I first painted it a color to go with her decor, then glued it all around several inches. Everybody loves it.
