How about hanging a feeder on the window. They make holders that use suction cups. If there is something there, the reflection that looks like wide open spaces would be obscured. You could also use decals on the outside of the window. I, personally, would opt for the feeder and perhaps a bird bath, too.

I have experienced this situation and lost juvenile Cardinals. The birds believe there is a pass through your window for some reason. I have tried methods you have suggested. I finally found through National Wildlife Foundation (I believe) an offering for window peel-off decals to place on the windows. They are transparent to the eye but the birds can recognize their shapes and will probably avoid this area in the future. I have not noticed any casualties since placing these on every window to

the backyard. I still leave my dream catchers and wind chimes in place at each window also. You are combining your efforts to ensure the bird understands this is not a passageway. Good luck!

I use window decals and still they crash...the window feeder is probably a good idea..but even that will attract rodents under it around the house foundation..another bigger problem.

my mother in law always put masking tape in a huge X form on her windows. Ugly but effective.

Well if you love those little birdie so much then maybe you should start putting bird seed out there on the lawn in front of the window so they don't kill themselves and they also get fed maybe that's why they're pecking at your window because they're hungry I don't know if you can afford to buy bird seed or not but you can always try mine the cheapest and see how it works and slowly moving away from your house to see if that helps out any just an idea I do not know your income

Put a screen over the window, top to bottom.

A bird once knocked itself out when it hit my window. It looked dead, but just in case it wasn't, I wrapped it up in a towel. A while later I took the bundle outside and removed the towel from what I thought was a pigeon...Lolol, thinking back on it now...I was holding a set of talons and beak, it seemed like. The pigeon was actually a very irate hawk...it flew away to live another day..

Tried this even used colored reflective tape.

Try taping large owl pictures to the window.

Looks like this male Rose-breasted Grosbeak really likes your window. If you can, I would attach something that both hangs and moves from either your window frame (think tension rod) or fosset. That should keep him from any more concussions.

I have the same problem. Near the window I have a lamp on a table with an arm that bends and I point it with the light bulbs pointing out the window.

A friend had a robin that kept hitting her window and she and I assumed they were seeing their reflection in the glass and were mad. Not sure what she did but seems to me the masking tape criss crossed on the glass would work.

Oh so sorry .We had that problem with our back bedroom window The bird so the reflection of the trees behind our house in the window and hit the window. I keep the drapes closed and I taped CD's in about 4 places to the window the more reflective side facing out the window. No problems with that bird trouble for years.

Have a friend that hung long pieces of paracord with little weights, (or crystals) on the bottom, from the eaves outside of her front window. We live in the Rocky Mts so there are no so-so views. She hung a grey-green cord so it is hardly noticable....execpt for the birds

I like the dark screen cover idea. When I lived in Arizona homeowners attached exterior dark sun screens over the windows to not only block out the sun, but deflect birds from flying into windows (no reflection). Hanging a bird feeder away from the windows might be another means to deter the birds from flying into your window. Best of luck.
